There are two suspects as to who betrayed him, one is Gerhild, and the second is Lork. I. How Do We Find Who Betrayed Rollo in Old Wounds Quest in AC Valhalla?

As you start the Old Wounds quest, you’ll be given the decision to choose who betrayed Rollo. I mentioned above that the real traitor is Gerhild. We come to this decision by talking with both the suspects.

Once you talk with both Gerhild and Lork, they both claim that they were out hunting rabbits for Rollo’s return. When you’re talking to Lork, he mentions that he saw Gerhild talking with a Saxon. After this, you’ll see a rack full of rabbits. This means that they didn’t have any reasons to go hunting. You’ll have another piece of evidence, a hiding spot to the left of Gerhild. You’ll have to use your Odin’s Sight to find this hiding place.

After this, you go to the suspects again to talk, Lork says that he wasn’t hunting, instead, he was sleeping and hiding when the attack happened. When you talk to Gerhild, she says that she was meeting her lover, the Saxon that Lork saw her in the forest. With all these evidence, it’s time that you make your decision about who is the traitor.

After all this, we know that Gerhild didn’t like Estrid, her having a Saxon lover is very unlikely, and she also lies about hunting. She also doesn’t have an alibi for where she was when the attack happened. Need any more evidence? I don’t think so.

Once you make your decision and tell Rollo that Gerhild is the real traitor, he will kill her.

II. What Happens If you Choose the Wrong Suspect in Old Wounds Quest?

If you pick Lork instead of Gerhild, Lork will be killed and the real traitor Gerhild still being alive will result in her hurting Estrid later on in the game. You will have a hard time getting Estrid out of England.
