Telegram, the free messaging app, is all set to amaze its users by introducing a group call support in May, including support for web-based video conferencing. In August, Telegram launched a one-to-one video call and now all set to roll out its group call next month. The messaging app will compete against popular applications like Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom after its coming update.
Yesterday, Pavel Durov, founder and CEO of Telegram, shared a message through his official Telegram channel in which he wrote, “ we will be adding a video dimension to our voice chats in May, making Telegram a powerful platform for group video calls.”
“Screen sharing, encryption, noise-cancellation, desktop and tablet support – everything you can expect from a modern video conferencing tool, but with Telegram-level UI, speed, and encryption. Stay tuned!” he added.
In the April 2020 blog post, it wrote that the global lockdown had “highlighted the need for a trusted video conferencing platform. Some apps are either secure or usable, but not both.” Telegram showed this security concern when popular video conferencing app like Zoom, criticized for their security issues. However, Zoom introduced its end-to-end encryption last year.
Earlier this week, Telegram brought many updates to the app, like they introduced a payment 2.0 where sellers can create bots to send invoices to customers, which can pay through their credit card, Google Pay, by clicking on the Pay button. Other features include scheduled voice chats, mini-profiles for voice chat, two new web apps.
Telegram WebZ and WebK Web Apps
As mentioned, Telegram launched its two similar web apps WebZ and WebK, with almost the same features but with a bit different design. The company stated that they believe in the internal competition; that’s why they launched two different versions of web apps.
Both versions include animation, stickers, chat folders, support the dark theme, and work equally well on desktops and smartphones.
How to use WebZ and WebK?
For using any of the web apps, you need to:
1. Go to Telegram’s official website.
2. Navigate to the Apps page by clicking over the Apps at the navigation bar.
3. On the Apps page, under the Web apps section, links for both the web apps are available.
4. After choosing any of the web app links, you are directed to the login page.

5. After Signing-in either by your credentials or a QR code scan, you are all set to use the Telegram web app.
Stay tuned for more updates.
