Keeping up with the expectations of Valorant players around the globe, Sentinels reportedly acquires Tyson (Tenz) Ngo for $1.25 million. The news followed right after when the former Cloud9 player wishes to stay with sentinels past winning the Valorant Champions Tour Masters Reykjavik. Resulting in Tenz now cementing his spot in the Sentinels Valorant Roster given the new contract.
According to Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne, the deal was already in the making even before the team’s Iceland win.
Hey to give some context this deal was done before Iceland. It was a dangerous deal for us as we knew we would soon face Sentinels in the Iceland Qualifiers, however, it was important to Tyson to play and I wanted to make it happen for him.
Best of luck to Tyson on Sentinels.
Jack Etienne (Founder & CEO Cloud9)
Tenz was formerly playing for the Cloud9 Valorant roster as a duelist. He then later decided to quit the professional scene and be a full-time streamer and content creator for Cloud9. Later, when Jay “Sinatraa” Won faced accusations of sexual misconduct from his ex-girlfriend, Sentinels suspended him from the team, thus creating a vacancy in the roster.
Sentinels then approached Tenz to fill the spot in the roster and temporarily borrowed him from Cloud9. He played for Sentinels in the NA Masters One, the NA Challengers Finals for Stage Two, and VCT Masters Two. However, still under the contract of Cloud9.
Tenz settled in with his new team quite effortlessly and goes on outperforming every team they face. He led his team to the grand finals of VCT masters two, wins the finals and came out to be the MVP of the series.
Tenz views on being under Sentinels contract
Both he and his team wanted him to stay in the org. Post finals match interview, he also stated it was the best team he’s ever played on and wanted to keep playing in the roster. Even his teammates appreciate the inclusion of Tenz into the roster. According to this team, the synergy they have in-game is great, and they can rely on each other in the game.
The recent buy of Tenz under Sentinels contract was much awaited. Everyone loved the way they dominate as a team and the role that Tenz plays for the team. Cloud9 CEO Jack Etienne was fairly happy with the deal and wanted the best for Tenz.
News of Sentinels acquiring Tenz took everyone by surprise. Even the team’s IGL Shazam was heard saying on his Twitch stream that even he didn’t know about the deal. It was later, after the Iceland win they got to know about Sentinels acquiring Tenz. Only the manager of the org was aware of the deal.
