i. Design & Display
The Realme 8 comes with a flashy silver “Dare to Leap” branding at the back, which we think looks weird. However, the Redmi Note 10S has a plain alluring back. But the choices might vary depending upon the camera layout. The in-hand experience of both the phones is quite similar.
Generally, Redmi phones are quite bulky and hefty but not this one. The Realme 8 is slightly lighter and smaller, so it feels slightly better in hand. Both the mobile comes with a 3.5 mm jack, secondary noise cancellation mic. But the IR blaster is only present on Note 10S.
Coming to the display, both smartphones have similar displays with a 60 Hz refresh rate. The Realme 8 features a 6.4-inch display, and Note 10S has a 6.43-inch display. The Redmi Note 10S is protected with Gorilla Glass 3, while Realme 8 gets Dragontrail protection.

Note 10S gets 33W charging & Realme 8 supports 30W. But while charging, you won’t notice much difference. Coming to the UI, it is a sort of personal preference. On Note 10S, you get MIUI 12.5, which is an improved version of MIUI with a slightly streamlined & optimized. But talking about experience, we prefer Realme UI 2.0. Although, on both phones, you will get third-party apps that can be uninstalled & both of them have system apps that will keep sending you notifications.
The most important aspect is the camera. The phones get a 64MP primary sensor, 8MP ultrawide, and two 2MP B&W Lens and Macro Lens setup. Realme gets an IMX 471 16MP camera at the front, while the Note 10S gets a 13 MP selfie camera. In addition, the Realme 8 camera has got more features: tilt-shift photography, pro mode.
We compared pictures from both the devices and found that Note 10S photos are brighter but fuzzy. Whereas Realme 8 photos come out a bit dark but have more details. We’ll say the photos of Realme 8 come out slightly better. Both the mobiles give the user a similar multimedia experience, but because of stereo speakers on the Note 10S, the audio feels better on Redmi.

The Realme 8 pricing in India for the base variant 4GB + 128GB starts at Rs 14,499. However, the company offered a discount of Rs 500 on the base variant after the launch of the new Redmi mobile. Similarly, the 6GB+ 128GB variant was launched at Rs 15,999, but it is now available for Rs 15,499 on Flipkart.

Finally, our opinion is that the Note 10S is priced at 15K, whereas the Realme 8 is priced at 14,499, which is 500 Rs less. Also, if we’re talking about the display, the Realme 8 is the best with an in-display fingerprint sensor. However, it has 2 GB less RAM but 64 GB more storage, so you may choose more storage or more RAM. In terms of camera, the Realme 8 is the clear victor. Performance, battery & charging are similar on both devices. So, the Realme 8 is the clear winner.
