Niantic has recently announced a new system in Pokemon Go called “Power Up Pokestop.” In this system players can now be able to level up certain Pokestops and gyms. Also, level up Pokestop will look different on the map. Let’s discuss how Pokemon Go Power Up Pokestop works.
First things first you will not be able to power up all pokestops. You can only be able to power up AR Pokestops by completing tasks. Moreover, Power up Pokestop will look different from normal Pokestop as you can see in the image below.

1. How to Power Up Pokestop in Pokemon Go?
First you need to find the AR Pokestop in Pokemon Go. Then you need to scan the location like you did to complete the daily challenges to earn stamps. When you scan the location its location point will increase, increasing in point will Power up the Pokestop from level 0 to 3.
Power Up Pokestop and gyms alo provided you with bonuses. Each level has a different bonus for players.

You need to complete the task/requirements to power up Pokestop in Pokemon Go:
- You need to be a level 20 or above player in Pokemon Go to perform the AR scan of the Pokestop
- To Power up Pokestop to level 1 players have to do 5 scans to the same AR Pokestop.
- To Power up Pokestop to level 2 players have to do 10 scans.
- To Power up Pokestop to level 3 players have to do 25 scans.
Note: Scan with the same account does not count as different players need to scan the Pokestop to Power it Up.
2. How to Scan a Pokestop in Pokemon Go?
To scan a Pokestop in Pokemon Go you need to go to the AR Pokestop and open it. Once it’s open you will be able to see Scan options there . Just click on it and start walking around the real location while recording the location with your device and upload your scan and you are done. You can see the video below for a more clear view.
