How & When Does Trevor Philips Unlocks in GTA 5

It’s been quite some time now since GTA 5 has been launched. However, it still remains the go-to game for open-world game fanatics out there. The game has a total of three protagonists namely: Franklin, Michael & Trevor. However, not all of them are playable at the start of the story.

1. When Can You Unlock & Play Trevor Philips in GTA 5

Although you’ll be able to switch between Trevor and Michael in the prologue, you’ll be stuck with Franklin to play with for a while once the story starts. You’ll be able to unlock the other two protagonists later in the game, as the story advances.

Trevor in GTA 5 has a rather bang-on entry (A literal bang-on one!). You can unlock Trevor in GTA 5 by completing the “Mr. Philips” mission. Before that, you need to complete The Jewel Store Job. Only after completing this heist, once you go inside Michael’s house you’ll end up in a cutscene with Trevor angry over what he saw on the news.

After the cutscene, you’ll be prompted to complete the “Mr. Philips” Mission. Once completed you have now unlocked Trevor for free roam in GTA 5. However, It’s up to you to decide how long is he playable in the game. One of the game’s endings locks him out of the game.

3. Ending Option That Locks Trevor Out of GTA 5

There are numerous ways for you to end the story of GTA 5. You get to use your own free will on how you want the game to end. Of the total three possible endings the game offer, two of them keeps Trevor playable in the game. The one ending that locks Trevor out of the game is the one that involves killing him.

To kill Trevor or not, is definitely one’s own choice. But what harm is keeping three characters playable than two. If you don’t like playing Trevor, you don’t necessarily have to kill him. Just stop switching over to Trevor. You never know when the maniac inside you arises and you get the urge to play as Trevor.

4. Trevor Philips Abilities & Power in GTA 5

Each protagonist has a different set of special abilities in the game. Trevor is capable of doing the same basic things there’s available in the game to do. However, he has his own set of special abilities & powers which are as follows:

  • His special ability makes him nigh impervious to damage.
  • He can send some Random Event characters to the Altruist Cult for money.
  • A hunting minigame is available.
  • Vanilla Unicorn becomes a passive $5,000 per week after the mission, Hang Ten.

Moreover, Trevor is rude and upfront when it comes to his behavioral traits. You can expect him to be the most contemptuous out of the three GTA 5 protagonists when it comes to talking to other pedestrians. He totally adds to be the most chaotic and insane among the three.

5. Can You Play As Trevor in GTA Online?

No, you cannot play as Trevor in GTA Online. But he can be seen giving missions to players in the online mode of GTA. However, you need to be level 13 or higher to be able to work for him. The last appearance of Trevor in GTA 5 is during the Series A Funding.

Moreover, a picture of him and Patricia Madrazo appears at the end of The Cayo Perico Heist. However, you can repeat Trevor Philips’ missions as long as you want like any other mission available in GTA Online.
