How to Get Iron Ore and Iron Ore Veins in New World

In New World to keep crafting and upgrading your current loadout, you need to continuously explore the map for items. Collecting various types of resources in the New World is very crucial for you to advance further into the game. When it comes to resources, Iron Ore is pretty important for you to get in New World.

Crafting still remains one of the most important fundamental things to learn in the game. You can turn resources into various goods and items in New World after using the Crafting Stalls. Iron Ore as a resource lets you make weapons, armor, and other vital goods, thus proving to be of utmost importance.

In New World, Iron can be obtained from iron ore. Whereas you can find Iron Ore by harvesting iron ore veins with a pickaxe. You’ll get the pickaxe as part of the main quest while following the beginning of the tutorial. However, making a pickaxe isn’t much of a task, but getting Iron is.

1. Where to get Iron Ore Veins in New World

In New World, you can get iron ore in the Highlands section of the map. You can check if you’re in a Highlands section or near one by searching for the legend under the Resource Locations section on your map. Highlands sections are easy to spot and are highlighted with the light brown color on the world map.

You can find multiple Iron Ore veins while looking out for Highlands sections close to impassable areas, which are located near mountains. Generally in New World, you’ll find iron ore in higher spots and near rocky hills and caves.

While passing through highland areas, look out for large rocks. They are generally much darker and black in color than regular stones and boulders in that area. You can then obtain iron ore from iron ore veins in New World by equipping a pickaxe and holding E until the progress circle completes.

2. Use of Iron Ore in New World

Iron ore is used to obtain iron, which is one of the most important resources in the game. In New World, you can get iron by taking iron ore back to any settlement and then bringing it to the smelter to smelt it into iron bars. You can use Iron bars in a variety of ways be it weapons, armor, or other goods.

As you progress further into the game, you’ll increase your smelting level with time. With each upgraded smelting level you’ll be able to smelt different metals as well and craft more iron at a lower cost. Hold on! There’s no need for you to rush right now and grind the game. The progress you make in the closed beta won’t carry over to the game on its full release.

However, learning the basics beforehand will sure do put you on a higher pedestal and could get you a head start when the game officially releases on Aug 31 this year.
