How to Change & Transfer Your Server in New World

Be it any game, network and server issues can easily ruin your overall game experience. Therefore, the choice to select your own right server is pretty crucial for any online game. Likewise, Amazon Games’ latest MMO “New World” is surely no exception. If you’ve already managed to get into the closed beta of the “New World” here’s how you can change & transfer your server in the game.

Before you begin your journey into the game, you’ll be prompt to choose your server in New World. You can do this by going to the main menu right after the game starts and then clicking on the bottom right corner. Thereafter, you’ll get the option to create a character in New World. But before you do so, you’ll be prompted to select your preferred server.

1. Choosing the Right Server In New World

“Currently, players can join any server, though you may experience latency issues if connecting to a distant server. We’ll constantly monitor server performance and make adjustments as needed.”

There are a lot of server options to choose from. They will be listed all at once, however, not all of them will be visible. To see all the server options available use the drop-down for all the regions. New World allows you to select and play on any server regardless of the region you belong to.

As already stated you get the option to join and play on any server. However, the more distant server you choose the more latency problems you’ll face. So keep in mind not to choose a server much farther away from your location. Once you’ve successfully chosen your server you will be brought to the main character creation process.

It is also important to note that the characters will be permanently tied to one server.

2. How to transfer server in New World

New World’s Global Launch Date is rescheduled for September 28, 2021.

  • Proceed with the steps and hit I understand.
  • This will lead you to character creation after a brief cinematic which you can skip.

3. Character Progress or Server Transfer? Decide For Yourself

Moreover, you cannot transfer or change your server as long as your character is attached to your server. To change and transfer a specific server in New World you have to first delete all your characters from the attached server you wish to transform from. Once deleted, you can now successfully change your server in New World.

This also implies you have to be very careful before joining a server and going through the character creation process. Because, if later you decide to change your server you will lose your character in the process and have to create a new character all over again for the new server.

You have to start all over again to connect to a new server in New World. As the server selection option comes only at the beginning of the new game slot.
