Everything you can do with the Leather Armor in Minecraft

Minecraft is so popular that it attracted more than a million players almost every month last year. This year too it has continued the strong growth. Among those players are a lot of new ones and they can have a lot of questions. One of those questions which we encounter at the start of the game is, What are the uses of a Leather Armor in Minecraft?

If you have the same question, then you are at the right place as we in this article we discuss what you can do with the Leather Armor in Minecraft.

I. What is Leather Armor in Minecraft?

Armor provides you and certain mobs with different levels of protection from damage, and is visible on the wearer. These items include helmets, chest plates, leggings, and boots, which can be placed in designated armor slots in your inventory for use.

At the beginning of the game as you search for the food you will definitely get leather in your inventory and you can then craft Leather Armor from that.

A full set of Leather Armor gives you seven points of protection. Though the protection isn’t very high but let’s be honest it’s better than nothing. This is the first use but there are more which we have listed below.

II. What are the Uses of Leather Armor in Minecraft?

Note – These applications of leather armor may come in handy when you progress a bit, not in the very early part of the game.

1) Decorative Use

You can dye the leather armor and make your in-game character look cooler. PewDiePie in his Minecraft series often called the green-dyed leather armor leggings “Gucci Pants”. So if you fancy those things you can give that good-looking element to your Steve or Alex.

Additionally, you can decorate your base or houses/buildings you’ve built in Minecraft, and spice up the boring parts with the leather armors. Leather armors both enchanted and dyed can be placed on an armor stand to decorate the areas you want to decorate.

2) Leveling up the Villagers and Resetting the Table.

You can level up the armor-smith villager by buying leather armor from him, for very cheap sometimes. What that does is that it levels him up and then unlocks better trades like diamond armor set etc.(at the last 2 levels).

The leather armor can also be used to reset (change the enchants offered) the enchantment table for cheap if you don’t like the offered enchants.

3) Preserve the Mobs

Mobs (Zombies, Skeletons, etc) don’t despawn after wearing armor and leather armor can be a cheap option for that. You would want mobs to not despawn in the builds like automatic iron farms etc. You can also keep the captured mobs forever with the armor, and they can be a fun addition to your builds.

Another way of doing this is using name tags but leather armor is cheaper than that.

4) Protecting the Villagers

Leather armor(or even better iron armor) can protect villagers from accidentally taking too much damage because of you attempting to trade with them and misclicking to hit them.

You can equip a villager with armor through a dispenser but it won’t be visible on them.

5) Marking Areas in the World

You can use dyed leather armor on armor stands to not only decorate your halls but also mark certain areas of the world(caves, forests, etc) with different colored leather armors. It can be a good decorative label kind of addition to the world and would look interesting as well.

III. Conclusion on Leather armor uses in Minecraft:

Though the Leather armor is not that great at protecting you, it can make your character and your builds look good. However, for protection, you should go for Iron armor. But until you find one make sure you have leather armor equipped.

We hope that this article helped you learn some uses of the seemingly useless leather armor.
