EA Bans The Sims 4 Paid Mods

The Sims 4 is introducing a new policy and it is a very controversial one. They said that they would be banning the Paid Mods. Sims 4 was already against the terms. Now they are introducing a new term that is throwing Patreon mods into flux. This article will have everything about why Sims 4 Bans Paid Mods.

“All users should be able to access mods completely for free regardless of whether they donate.”

This was stated in the update from the game. They also said,

“Mods must be non-commercial and distributed free-of-charge. Mods cannot be sold, licensed, or rented for a fee, nor can mods contain features that would support monetary transactions of any time.”

They are introducing a new term, “rent” which has all of the Sims 4 community confused. They’re unclear whether the term “renting” is correct if they’re distributing the mods early to the Patreons before a full release. Maxis hasn’t acknowledged or commented about anything as of now.

Patreons modders are now in dilemma on how to proceed about this news as Sims 4 Bans Paid Mods. Modders can still earn through advertising and donations on their mods. But there is a term in the EA TOS that the passive advertisements and requests for donations can only be on the mod website or distribution site, and these advertisements and donation requests should not come within the game.

With this update, EA also said that you can redistribute the paid mods, you can share the paid mod for free. As of now, The game has not cleared anything about what will happen to early access mods. But as of now, EA has permanently banned permanent paywalls and they’ve banned in-game donations and marketing as well.
