Apple has recently launched the iOS 15.2.1 update, which fixes a few bugs that were occurring in the 15.2 updates. Let’s have a glimpse at which new features were added to iOS 15.2.1 in addition to the previous version:
- Bug fixes for messages may not load images sent using iCloud link
- Third party bug fixes for CarPlay apps may not respond to input
- Security update to HomeKit for denial of service when processing maliciously crafted HomeKit accessory names.
Which are the bug fixes as per release notes?
There are two major bug fixes in the latest update, the first of which is related to the loading problem of the images, while the second deals with the CarPlay error of not responding to input.

In the first update, Apple tries to resolve a common issue that was being faced by most of the users; that was the problem with the loading of photos that were being sent as messages using the iCloud link.
The second one deal with the problem of third-party apps in CarPlay that previously were not responding to input will behave properly from now.
They have also included a major security update related to HomeKit issues. The problem was a denial of service when processing a maliciously crafted HomeKit accessory name. It is a vulnerability that was seen last year and involves changing the name of the HomeKit device to something with more than 500,000 characters. It was partly fixed in 15.1 but is now completely fixed.
Conclusion
iOS 15.2.1 has brought some important bug fixes and features to enhance the user experience. Moreover, the security update will also make users feel more secure and provide confidence in Apple’s concern for users’ security. But the update file is quite a larger one, which is the one reason why we will not call it a micro update.
